Humanities French Language Essay Prize Competition
The Humanities French Language Essay Prizes will be awarded for outstanding essays written in French for courses in the Humanities. The competition is open to students in level II through IV. Up to 3 prizes may be awarded each year (one per level for Levels II, III, and IV). Each winner will receive $100. Papers are evaluated based on the level of the student, not the level of the course.
Eligibility
Papers must meet the following criteria:
- Essays from level II courses must be minimum 1500 words; levels III and IV courses must be minimum 2000 words
- Non-traditional essays (vines, vlogs, timelines etc) may be considered
- Book reviews, tests, and other formulaic class assignments are not eligible
- Essays must have received a grade of at least an A- to be considered
Students must submit a CLEAN copy of the essay by the published deadline.
How to Apply
Download and complete the French Essay Prize cover form and upload it along with a clean essay copy to the Humanities French Essay Prize Drop Folder. Students should allow themselves enough time to secure the signature and support of the relevant instructor or TA, as incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Remember, you are allowed to submit only one essay, so you may wish to wait before submitting a paper from the fall term to ensure you would not rather submit one from the winter term.
Deadline for submissions: May 1, 2024
